DIGITALDUBS ft.EARL SIXTEEN – Pirate’s Game

ROIR presents Digitaldubs first US release, “#1″, which drops a wicked selection featuring singers, deejays, and, of course, killer dubs. The duo enlist such legendary vocalists as Ranking Joe, Earl Sixteen, and Brinsley Forde of Aswad, as well as Brazilian contributers Jeru Banto and Dada Yute to set fire to some crucial riddims.

With their four-to-the-floor steppers rhythms and crisp production, Digitaldubs’ sound initially conjures up the dub sound of England in the early 90s. But there’s more — polyrhythms from the place with endless permutations as well as a lot of live instrumentation, which was increasingly scarce in digital productions. Throw in some singers and deejays, and Digitaldubs looks much more like those early Jamaican sound systems that eventually became studios and labels. On this, their first release on ROIR and the first outside of their native Brazil, Digitaldubs drops a wicked selection featuring some killer dubs. Lead by Marcus a.k.a. MPC and Nelson Meirelles (formerly of popular Brazilian band O Rappa), Digitaldubs enlist legendary vocalistsRanking Joe, Earl Sixteen, and Brinsley Ford of Aswadas well as Brazilian contributers Jeru Banto and Dada Yute.
